Ohio House candidate gains key small-business endorsement
NFIB/Ohio endorses Tom Whiston in the 90th House District race

COLUMBUS, February 19, 2008 - The political action committee of Ohio’s largest small-business group, the National Federation of Independent Business/Ohio, today announced its endorsement of the election of Tom Whiston (Mt. Gilead) in the race for the 90th Ohio House District seat.

“As a small-business owner himself, Tom Whiston has a unique appreciation for the role that small business plays in the growth and vitality of Ohio’s economy,” Roger R. Geiger, Vice President/Executive Director of NFIB/Ohio.  “As an active business and civic leader in his community, he has shown leadership and understanding of the issues and challenges that affect small business, and he will work hard to make Ohio a welcoming environment where small businesses can locate and grow.”

“Many small-business owners take an active role in the political process because of the direct effect that government has on their ability to grow and operate their business,” said Geiger. “As election season approaches, they are very aware of the importance of their vote and seek to support candidates that will fight to create a competitive business climate in Ohio.”

NFIB/Ohio will stress the importance of supporting Whiston to its members in the 90th House District.  “We are going to work very hard on behalf of pro-small-business candidates in this election because we feel very strongly that the future of Ohio’s economy depends on electing leaders who support and defend free enterprise,” Geiger said.
